WHAT IS TCF ?
The TCF for Québec, is a specific version of the Test de Connaissance du Français (TCF) which has been elaborated by the CIEP based on the request of the Ministry of Immigration and Cultural Communities of Québec to assess the level of competency in French, specifically the listening and oral skills, of an audience that wishes to emigrate to Québec.
It is also recognized by the French authorities for the process of naturalization
The TCF for Québec is composed of a listening comprehension and an oral expression. You must take both to complete your test but it is also recommended for the French naturalization:
-
Listening comprehension (30 questions – 30 minutes)
-
Oral expression (6 questions – 15 minutes with an evaluator).
From 1st Aug 2013, applicants to Quebec immigration can get more marks with:
-
Written Comprehension (30 questions – 45 minutes) . 1 mark.
-
Written Expression (6 questions – 1 hour 45 minutes). 1 mark.
Your TCF for Québec certificate is only valid for your imigration application. You cannot use it for example for admission to a French university.
You can take the TCFQ as much as you want, you just need to respect a 30 days delay in between 2 tests.
